Your Voice, Your Choice - Influence the development of public spaces in South West Seattle

Hello, South Delridge Neighbors!

I wanted to share some quick info about two upcoming opportunities to share your thoughts on which of the small-scale parks and streets projects West Seattle community members submitted last fall will be developed and implemented in 2018.  You can learn more about the process at the Seattle Your Voice, Your Choice website.

There are four steps to this participatory budgeting process:
  1. Idea Collection (February 2017), when community members came together to create and submit project ideas to the City. (Complete)
  2. Project Development (March - April 2017), when Project Development teams turn submitted ideas into concrete project proposals. (In progress)
  3. Voting (June 2017), when Community members will vote on their top projects within their individual Council District. (Scheduled)
  4. Fund & Implement (2018), when each City Council District will select top projects as voted on by their districts that amount up to $285,000.  City Departments will include winning projects in their 2018 budget and will implement them in 2018.
We are currently in the Project Development portion of the project, during which the City will host four public Project Development events in our district (West Seattle, District 1).  You can review the District 1 Project Ideas that were submitted through the 2017 Your Voice, Your Choice Idea Collection process from this interactive Google map. There are 12 - 15 projects located within  the South Delridge boundary, including the Triangle Bus Park redesign proposal and multiple pedestrian safety enhancements; plenty of opportunities to directly influence outcomes for our neighborhood.

The best part of this process is that anyone (yes, you!) can join one of the Project Development Teams. To get involved with the Project Development Team in our area, just fill out this form to RSVP for one of the upcoming community meetings. We hope you can attend one of these meetings and share your voice in this critical process.
